2021: An Exit Interview
Cerys wraps up the year with a final linklog, before the Post*Shift team take a well-earned rest!
Well, we made it! Post*Shift will be downing tools for the next two weeks to give ourselves some R&R and time with family, so this will be the last linklog of 2021. When I was looking back at old end-of-year editions, I had to have a chuckle at Lee’s intro to our first post of 2021:
Welcome to 2021, which is definitely going to be better than 2020 – I mean, no way it could be crazier, right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
*checks news*
Oh, I see … 🙁
Little did we know just how crazy!
For our final linklog of the year, here are three longer reads to add your TBR pile, our three most popular posts of the year and finally a round up of Post*Shift’s year in numbers. Enjoy!
Three Reads to Reflect on
Great read from Ben Thompson over at Stratechery “The Amazon Empire Strikes Back”
“WTF is wrong with Open Source Communities?” is an important piece from Jennifer Riggins about diversity, or lack thereof within the community, and the knock-on effect within organisations that leverage an open source stack.
For those of you who prefer books over articles, my favourite read this last few months has been Open Strategy: Mastering Disruption from Outside the C-Suite by Christian Stadler, Julia Hautz, Kurt Matzler, and Stephan Friedrich von den Eichen (MIT Press, 2021), in which the authors share a system for radically transforming the strategy process through openness, engagement, frontline-first thinking and other techniques shared here.
And finally a bonus Twitter thread as a friendly reminder to us all of just how far our digital transformation efforts still have to go:
Post*Shift’s Three Most Popular Posts
We did a modest amount of writing by our usual standards in 2021, but our linklog has kept its strong and steady readership growing. Here are three posts that resonated with you this year:
